Talent Team: Week 1 Recap

The first week with the Talent Team Carolina Villanueva Suarez, Ferrante Anchisi, and Lorenzo Patrese—has concluded with great success.

Immersive Training Program

On Wednesday, June 5th, and Thursday, June 6th, the young riders began their full immersion program, created in partnership with Bridl. They participated in the Horse Body Condition system evaluation with students and researchers from the University of Parma and the University of Turin.

Horse Body Condition Scoring

The Body Condition Scoring System is essential for assessing the fat cover on key areas of a horse’s body. Utilizing the Henneke scoring system, which ranges from 1 (poor) to 9 (extremely fat), the ideal score for sport horses is 6. This assessment guides nutrition, performance, and overall health, ensuring our horses are in peak condition.

Business Classes and Growth Mindset

Carolina, Ferrante, and Lorenzo also attended their first business classes led by Joseph from Bridl’s team, focusing on public speaking and cultivating a growth mindset. These skills are crucial for their development as well-rounded athletes.

Mobility and Performance Tracking

Laura Hämäläinen, Coach, Founder & CEO of Equestrian App, shared insights from their Thursday session: We started with a short pre-ride mobility session before the athletes rode their horses. Later, we synced their Suomi Polar Pacer Pro watches with my coaching tool for seamless performance tracking.

Training with Giorgio Nuti

Friday, June 7th, marked the first day of training with Giorgio Nuti. The team spent the entire morning and noon until lunch at the riding arena, observing and discussing how to best integrate their off-saddle work with Nuti’s in-saddle training techniques.

Anatomy and Individual Work

On Saturday, Laura explained the riders’ anatomy to our Talents, introducing some individual exercises they practiced on Sunday, rounding off an intensive and productive week.
