#TalentCoaches: Meet Laura Hämäläinen

Scuderia 1918 and Bridl have joined forces to launch the “Talent” project, with the goal to create future leaders of equestrian sports. Each day is meticulously structured to include physical training with a personal trainer, equestrian coaching and afternoon classes on subjects such as ethology, horse management, nutrition, marketing, finance, and more.

Meet Laura Hämäläinen, Coach, founder & CEO Equestrain App.

Based in Espoo, Finland.

Laura represents the upcoming generation of coaches working with equestrian athletes and in her work she combines her own understanding of the sport as a rider since the age of 5 to her deep drive and passion to understand sports performance, human body and mind.

Laura has unique ability in her approach to coaching where she sees athletes always first as individuals before equestrian athletes.

She helps riders to improve their performance and seat with tailored workouts outside the saddle in a way that it really is connected to riding as a sport and to sometimes busy equestrian lifestyle.

Laura already works with 5* riders and usually the results riders feel come within two weeks and that is also the goal for the Talent Camp. She will be working with the rides on daily basis to improve their mobility, body control and also to help the upcoming young talents to understand how the workouts and also nutrition play a role in their own performance.

“Riding has been part of my life since I was 5 years old and through my own experience with injuries I discovered my professional passion with human and sports performance.

In my work with equestrian athletes I combine my over 20 year of experience as a rider into my sports physio, sports performance and mental coach background. Equestrain strives to bring the best sports performance coaching into the equestrian world — meaning workouts outside the saddle that really help riders improve their seat and performance.

Over the next 3 weeks I’ll be helping the talents to improve their performance as an equestrian athlete with workouts & master classes that focus on improving their mobility, body control & strength and understanding of how workouts and nutrition play a huge role also for the rider, not only for the horse.

For me the most important thing is that the riders I get the chance to work with really see and feel the change in their riding. We’re not here to just improve their fitness or mobility, we’re here to help them grow as athletes. At the top the marginals are small but there is yet so much unlocked potential when it comes to helping riders also outside the saddle.
