Training Mind and Body: A Day with Angelo Telatin

Last week, we had the honor of welcoming Angelo Telatin—equestrian expert, researcher, and university professor—for a special training session with Henk Nooren and the young riders of our Talent Team. The goal? To enhance the communication between horse and rider, starting from a crucial yet often underestimated element: the rider’s position.

From Observation to Analysis

Telatin began by carefully observing each rider during their training sessions, analyzing the details of their posture and the way they interacted with the horse. But he didn’t stop at the surface—he took the work beyond the arena.

The Body as a Communication Tool

To truly improve effectiveness in the saddle, riders need awareness on the ground as well. That’s why each rider worked on specific posture exercises, replicating the riding position on a fitball. A simple yet powerful way to restore balance, alignment, and contact—without the complexity of the horse’s movement.

A New Level of Awareness

Through precise feedback and hands-on adjustments, Telatin showed the riders how small changes could make a big difference in the quality of their communication with the horse. It was a session built on listening, sensitivity, and the ability to perceive the body as the first and most important technical tool.

One Step Forward in Their Growth

Experiences like this are a fundamental part of the journey for young athletes at Scuderia 1918. Because training a horse isn’t just about jumping higher—it’s also about becoming a rider in the deepest sense: more aware, more attentive, more human.
